What is your decorating Style? [ Part 1 ]

If someone asked you,”What is your decorating style?” Would you be able to answer without hesitation? Would you have difficulty articulating your style? Most would. People think they know their style and how to describe it. Some might say something like… my decorating style is West Elm-ish, or Pottery Barn-ish. {That is like the dumbest thing that I have heard in my life.} Although, since I have a since of style, I kind of know what people mean when they say it. However, there are three four basic categories. First one being Classic, Traditional, but I like to call it Sophisticated Classic, Modern, Casual and then my favorite Vintage Eclectic. Interior decorating is an extension of your personal style, but better because you don’t have to worry about if they have your size or not.
There are three things you need to do in order to figure out your decorating style. 1) Tour your own home, room by room making two list, “Love it” and “I want to replace it” 2) Gather a few key pieces that you love and make you happy. I consider these your style starters 3) Think about places that you have been and why you love them, remembering even books you’ve read, art, and music. { If you could live anywhere, where would it be? A New York loft, a suburban neighborhood, some cozy cottage.}
